Yesterday’s acts in honor the patron saint, the Virgen de las Mercedes Coronada began with the beginning of the novena and a special presentation. The presentation of the book “The story of Virgin of Mercedes told for kids” took place in the Church of Consolation’s sacristy. This was an initiative by the brotherhood and was written by Luis SanJuan Monforte.
The story is told through a dialogue between grandmother and granddaughter. Some interesting facts are revealed such as the reason they call the virgin “cortijera” or the different routes of the image to villages. Other traditions are also presented that relate to the Brotherhood or the image of Virgen de las Mercedes, such as the Day of Candelaria, and the presentation and naming of children.
This timeless edition will help young people to understand the unique traditions and experiences that are closely tied to the town. It will also bring them closer to the history of the Brotherhood as well as the town.
