The kerstbierfestival in the Heuvelhal is not only by bierminnend Flanders and the Netherlands in the heart closed. Fred Waltman has been coming since 2011, continuously travels to the Low Countries to be here for two days stay. Especially for O. B. E. London, New York, Antwerp, Prague, Berlin, Stockholm, and for a whole range of American states. But now add also but Kerstbierfestival Essen to the list. The American Fred Waltman is in the softwaregebeuren and in function of his beer passion for a lot of cities are already a bierapp made. A few years ago, he left to the organizers of O. B. E. And of course I wanted that. This is really such a beautiful festival with delicious beers and a group of cool people who organize.”
Unique
Fred Waltman taught the festival at the end of nineties. “I was together with friends on biertrip in Europe. Something we have been doing,” says the American. “We are always in Antwerp and as we heard at a given moment only but positive things about this festival. We are then come and see and we were immediately sold. Such a fun atmosphere. Such a nice people and what a great beer. In the beginning I did not every year, but since 2011 I am here every year. Usually I combine it with a week of somewhere in the neighborhood. Now we have, for example, what affairs visited in Amsterdam. Think of it as a hobby: travel and beer. I’ve also once the large Zythosfestival done, but this is much more fun and friendlier. Twice a year I come to Europe. Once in spring and once in the fall and anytime this period for this festival I don’t miss it.” And what does Fred really is the best beer? “Damn, a tough… but do it anyway, but the Silent Night. Delicious beer. That taste you will find nowhere. And the worst? That away I don’t.”
Success
The organization of the 24th beer festival is in each case satisfied. “The two days were sold out and everyone has enjoyed it. From the world map in the front of the sports hall will depend, evident that we have a lot of foreign guests were allowed to receive. There were even from India,” says Gunter Mertens. “We look forward to our 25th edition next year.”
