In Granada, the trend is still upward. The covid remains very prevalent and the number is increasing. The Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucia notified over a thousand cases of infection in Granada on Friday. These infections were reported in the past three days. 1,048 people were confirmed to be positive. Granada is now the second Andalusia province with the highest number registered infections, just behind Malaga (1.908).

This number is now higher than it was one week ago, when the psychological barrier of 1000 infections (851) was lower. It had been reached on Friday, July 1. This is a fact that does not reflect the real reality of infections. Diagnostic tests are reserved for the most vulnerable and self-diagnostic test are not included.

This upward trend is a reflection of the fact that new covid variants are more contagious but don’t seriously affect most patients who have them. Hospitalization rates in Andalusian communities remain low. 728 covid-19-positive patients are still being admitted to Andalusian hospitals. 28 of them are in the ICU.

Despite the fact that hospitalizations in the province are stable, it still exceeds one hundred admissions (105), two of whom remain in the ICU. These numbers can be traced back to Tuesday last week, when the Board last provided data on infections. They reflect the trend seen in March, when more than 100 patients were admitted for this condition.

The real concern is the number of deaths. In the past three days, there have been seven deaths due to covid. Three people died last Tuesday. These new statistics show that Granada has more than 2,200 deaths (2.204) since the outbreak of the pandemic.
