It was a lovely sunny day. The beautiful sculpture was just put up, and then I would go and see the sculpture. Then I thought, ”it is high”, so I went just one step back. And so I lay in the water.
a year ago, The Alis Helene Madsen drowning near, when she fell into the water in the Port of Aarhus. The experience is still deep in her.
I looked up through the water and saw the bubbles and the light over the surface. I’m flapping around on the surface and wondered how long I could lie there, and if there was someone who had seen me, says Alis Helene Madsen to TV2 ØSTJYLLAND.
In Aarhus, there are lots of equipment along the water, which can help individuals who fall in the water. But the life preservers, Alis Helene Madsen might have had the pleasure of in the situation, have a tendency to disappear.
And they are perhaps as souvenirs on a wall somewhere in the city. They will be the weekend after the weekend stolen.
– I think we take them as a trophy, or throw them in the main street. It is typically on the main street, we find them again, she says to TV2 ØSTJYLLAND, says Lene Mossin, project manager at Østjyllands of the Fire department.
In the course of the past year, disappeared about 50 lifebuoys by the river in Aarhus. Luckily Alis Helene Madsen out of the water without.
– My husband was here, but I knew not where, for he had stood and spoken with someone. So I cried, so much so I had air to. So he came after a while and plopped himself down. Because he is an agile man, then threw himself down on his stomach, and when he stretched his arm out so I could reach him. Then came there another young woman, and they got me up, she says.
And according to the fire brigade she got fortunate from the accident.
– the Time is ticking fast, when you are in the 5 degrees cold water. There is not necessarily much to the next lifesaver, but 30 seconds is a long time, if you are in the water, says Lene Mossin to TV2 ØSTJYLLAND.
You have so hurry to get up out of the water, if you only ended up in there. It’s just, unfortunately, not so easy.
– It is just like such a well, when one is down there. There was quite shallow, so there was only the perfectly smooth walls that take hold of, says Alis Helene Madsen to TV2 ØSTJYLLAND.
A lifesaver had made it easier for østjyden to get safely up from havnevandet again. If nothing else it could have bought her more time and more effort.
I had, of course, a bag that was filled with clothes and shoes and the jacket. If there just had been a handle, I could take the train and relax, so you can think and have peace. It is almost the most important thing. They fall, never in the prepared, she says.
It is located 38 lifebuoys in Aarhus around the river and the harbour. Therefore, when they have not been stolen.
– You should try to have fun with something other than what society has set up for all our sake, says Alis Helene Madsen.
