The Zurich cantonal Council has today made the Numbers public, how many marriages with Minors closed in recent years or recognized. Within three years, in the Canton of 281 minors were registered year old brides or grooms.
Most of the time it is the bride, who was at the wedding of a minor. 263 women under the age of 18 years were received between 2015 and 2017, a marriage, or have been recognized in the Canton, as married, as is clear from the response of the Executive Council on a request from the SVP and EDU. Minors grooms show up in the statistics much less frequently. Within three years, only 18 Times.

Many of these marriages were contracted abroad. Among the most common countries of origin of the minors, bride-to-be people of Afghanistan, Eritrea, Turkey, and Kosovo.

How many of these 281 young people to the marriage were forced, is difficult to say. In the period between 2015 and 2017, just five cases were the Zurich prosecuting authorities as a possible marriage forced reported. The number of unreported cases is high.
The marriage to an underage spouse is not prohibited by criminal law. To force someone into a marriage, but it is a human rights violation and can be punished in Switzerland with imprisonment of up to five years. (SDA)
