That Jospop the power cord from the organization attracts, is a surprise. Last summer seemed to be the music festival that is particularly popular amongst young people, a new path. The organization weerde expensive rock bands for relatively cheaper dance – and hiphop duo. In addition, there was since 2017 a new location – the meadow along the Wijngaardstraat.
Financial problems
However, it seemed that the era definitively behind it. After a long deliberation pulls the organization from its conclusions. “We have much regret in the heart to say that Jospop no longer the summer will finish with a bang,” says organizer Matthias De Munck. “To identify potential financial problems to avoid, this is in our opinion the only choice. Over the past few years a lot of small, local festivals, it is difficult to continue to exist. A trend that also for us, unfortunately, is palpable. A meadow transformed into a full-fledged festival site costs a lot of money, a logistics cost there year after year no less. In addition, the books of fun, to-the-imagination-speaking artists are not so obvious more. On the other hand, it becomes increasingly difficult to sponsorship and grants, to redeem.”
