“Many young athletes have back problems”
“Elitsatsande young people to a much greater extent, problems with the lumbar spine than other young people, according to a new study at Umeå university.”
“In the survey included 2 522 young people aged between 16 and 19 years of age and of these described 46% had problems with pain in the lumbar spine. The problems are more common in girls than in boys, 52 per cent compared with 40 per cent, and the worst affected are those who play sports more than six hours per week. It has been in the study not gone to point out to any particular sport would be more risky than any other.”
“In nine out of ten young people who were examined with ländryggsproblem was a structural cause of the symptoms. The most common injury was a stress response or stress fracture.”
