On July 17, 2019, Indalecio Sanchez Monttesinos, the Health delegate in Andalusian Government, visited Maracena Health Center with Noel Lopez, the mayor of the city. They assured that the 24-hour emergency service the facility lacked would soon be launched. Sancehz Monttesinos stated 12 months ago, “It’s a very clear engagement, the deadline is immediately, at the time when we have the necessary staff.”
But, a year later, the reality in the Granada metropolitan region is very different. It is true that Maracena Health Centre continues to operate without a 24-hour emergency response. This is something that the mayor of the city feels is “more important than ever” given the “urgent” coronavirus pandemic.
