“Moose was drowning – rescued by Heléne”
“Dan before dopparedan was to be the last day in the life of the moose calves that went down in a hole in the ice in Östersund. But thanks to a strong hjälteaktion spared the loss of life, writes Östersunds-Posten.”
” I feel the adrenaline still. I can’t eat and is very jittery, ” says Heléne Eed-Jonsson to Aftonbladet.”
“On Sunday morning, saw Heléne Eed-Jonsson and her husband Roger how a älgko stroking around the outside of their house in Fillsta in Östersund. The moose squeaked and seemed worried. Heléne went out in the cold in just pajamas, something that even Östersunds-Posten wrote about.”
“– Then I saw that a bull moose had gone down in a hole in the ice right next to our jetty. The calf had go down a little further out. I went in as a jehu, and cried to the husband that we need, ” says Heléne Eed-Jonsson to Aftonbladet.”
“So it was. While the people were on she called 112. Where she got a short answer – the police would send a hunter.”
“– I shouted: ”No, we’ll try to save it first’.”
“A farmer went to take on the assignment. Together, all three out on the ice with a rope. The bull had already taken up but älgkalven became afraid and moved further out in the water. Heléne managed to go around the moose and get it to go towards the shore again. She knows the Lake and knows that it is relatively shallow at their bridge. After her pressure from behind got the calf up the front legs on the ice, and eventually even the hind legs.”
“– But where did it stop. It was blankis, and as soon as it set down a hoof as for the Bambi on the slippery ice with all four legs straight out.”
“Heléne and the farmer threw the rope on the rump of the calf. In this way, it could be hauled in. A moment later, it was on land.”
“– It rose up rather slowly. Then ran it in way so that only the moose can do. They are just floating in nature.”
“couldn’t do without help.”
“the Whole rescue operation took over an hour. Now can the three heroes take a breather.”
“– It is nice and we are happy that it went well. I feel the adrenaline still. I can’t eat and is very jittery. It was mentally exhausting because you don’t want to see a moose calves drown outside his house the day before christmas eve, ” she says, and continues:”
“– It had never survived if we had not gone up it.”
