FC Bayern is apparently letting a midfielder go shortly before the end of the transfer period. As reported by “Bild”, Marcel Sabitzer, 28, is about to move to Manchester United. The Austrian professional moved from RB Leipzig to Munich together with Julian Nagelsmann in 2021 and was considered the coach’s express choice of player.

At the beginning of the season, Sabitzer was still a regular at Bayern, but his playing time has recently decreased. In total, he was on the pitch 15 times in the Bundesliga. The midfielder apparently hopes that a move to Manchester in the Premier League will give him greater prospects of playing time. United are looking for a replacement after Christian Eriksen’s injury.

As a further reason for Sabitzer’s farewell, “Bild” cites the upcoming commitment of Konrad Laimer, 25, (RB Leipzig), who according to “Kicker” should switch to FC Bayern in the summer. The Austrian would be another competitor for his former teammate from Leipzig days.

In his first season in Munich, Sabitzer had shown rather mixed performances and scored one goal in 30 competitive games.
