Two teenagers were arrested by the New York Police Department Saturday morning in connection with the February 5 shooting that occurred last week.

Three charges have been filed against a 17-year old male suspect, including attempted murder and assault on a policeman with a deadly weapons. According to Fox News Digital, a 16-year old male suspect was charged with attempted murder.
These charges are in relation to the shooting of an off duty Harlem officer last weekend at 7:30 p.m. The officer was on his way to a vigil.

Jeffrey Maddrey, Chief of Housing NYPD, stated that this was the seventh officer killed by police in 2018. “[O]ur gun violence is increasing, and I’m just pleading to all of the communities, all our citizens, and our police — it’s time for us all to support each other. We must [disable] gun violence. This is not a way to live. This is not the way to live. This is the most beautiful city in the entire world.

Maddrey stated that the officer saw the teenagers “firing shots from a gun” as he left the vigil. He also began to feel pain in his left foot.
Fox News Digital was previously informed by a spokesperson for the NYPD that the officer was in stable condition following the incident.

This shooting was the seventh incident involving police in New York City within a little over a month. Two NYPD officers were killed in a gunfight in Harlem late January. Officer Jason Rivera died shortly after the shooting. Officer Wilbert Mora succumbed to his injuries.

Ten people were killed in seven shootings during a 24-hour period on Thursday.
Eric Adams, the Mayor of Philadelphia, cried that day and called upon city agencies to do more for youth at risk from becoming victims to crime and violence.
According to police statistics, murders in the past year are down 12.8%, while shootings have increased 29.7%.

The rise in violence is a result of crimes . In other words, shootings and murders are increasing across the country. Many cities, including Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, have seen an increase in murders between 2021 and 2021.

Last week, President Biden visited New York City to meet the Governor. Kathy Hochul and Eric Adams, the New York City Mayor, met to discuss how federal and local laws enforcement could collaborate to combat gun crimes and invest more in police officers to fight the rising violence in the city.
