Orange Belgium for Brussels selected to the super-fast mobile network 5G test. This is our capital, the first Belgian town to which the technology will be introduced. That was unveiled today by ceo Michael Trabbia. The general public will, however, have until 2020 to wait.
Orange expects that by 2020, a full commercialization of technology will be possible. Belgium is next to France one of the first European countries where 5G will be tested.
That Orange for Brussels has chosen, is due to an agreement in October was closed between the Brussels government and the three telecom operators on the development of this mobile network. It was decided to have the radiation standards to increase to 14.5 volts per meter outside the home, compared to 6 volts per meter at this time. Without this decision would be the roll-out of 5G impossible in Brussels, and had Orange for another European city to choose from. 5G will be installed in a total of 17 European cities.
5G shows in a test environment speeds up to 70 gigabits per second, which is hundred times faster than the current 4G. In practice, it would be a film in just a few seconds to download.
