“The arctic is losing 14 000 tons of water per second”

“Despite the fact that there is much more ice around the south pole is that the ice at the north Pole, which now melts the fastest, according to a new study. The melting in the Arctic has tripled, to 14 000 tons of water per second.”

“Danish forskningssajten videnskab.dk compares the water quantity to all the world of nearly eight billion people filling a bath every single day.”

“But unlike badkarsvattnet is much of the water that comes from melted ice.”

“– We don’t need to wait to the end of the century to see the problems related to the havsnivåstigningar. They are here already, ” says Jason Box, professor at the Danish institute Geus (De Nationale Geologiske Undersøgelser for Danmark og Grønland).”

“– Take, for example, the city of Miami Beach, which adds 500 million dollars annually on to pump out water and raise the roads, ” says the Box to the videnskab.dk.”

“at the moment, havsnivåhöjningarna to about 3 millimeters annually, according to Nasa. It sounds maybe a little, but it beats unevenly and can already after a few decades have a major impact in some places. In addition, the overall pace increase, because in addition to the Arctic there are two major and growing factors – the melting at the other end of the planet, as well as the fundamental physical factor, that is, water expands the warmer it becomes.”

“– Antarctica goes probably for sometime to come, “says Box according to The Washington Post , about how the three factors”

“scientists in Chile, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway and the united states have participated in the analysis. Just the Netherlands, the Danish scientists on the as an example, now, when man seems to fail in halting climate change. There are parts of the country which long since fallen far below the sea levels, and therefore must be protected with large dams.”

“Communities in the shallow coastal areas in for example Sweden and Denmark need to prepare for similar scenarios. And it is nevertheless in the best case, if we start pulling down on the fossil fuels now.”

“– Even if we limit our koldioxidspridning, even if we follow the objectives of the paris agreement, we lose the ice sheet in Greenland. It is just a matter of how fast it goes, said Jason Box earlier in december to Denmark’s Radio.”
