Hitmaker Karl Peter Jensen’s death, 71 years, after an extended illness. It confirms his daughter, Rilla Jensen to Ekstra Bladet.
He was the man behind the enormous hit ‘Jack Me A Beer’, which went throughout the country around in 1982, and since has stuck. The song he wrote under the stage name Carl Petter.
– He was, if any, a life of the party man. There will be cheerful in heaven, writes Jørn Sørensen, who was a longtime friend of Carl Petter, in an obituary in the Randers Amtsavis.
In his obituary tells Jørn Sørensen, Carl Petter was a major initiator in the local community.
He was among other things active around Randers Week, which is a local festival in Randers. In addition, he held many activities at the local inn in Havndal north of Randers, which also was the town he lived in.
Carl Petter has also been a bar and café owner. Among other things he has owned Maren Knudsen Café and Restaurant Maxim, as both lay on Storegade in the centre of Randers.
In an interview with Randers Amtsavis in the occasion of the 25 anniversary of the ‘Plug me a beer’ told Carl Petter that he wrote the hit in just 40 minutes. He heard the Swedish band the New Rockets play a song, and the song he found so good that he wanted to make a Danish version.
I had never heard the song before, but the song just sat stuck with the same. It hung right in your ear at me. I thought that I had to try to make a song on, and I got the song at home on a tape, he told in 2007.

When Carl Petter was finished writing the song, he recorded it together with the Swedish New Rockets. They quickly got a record label to release the demo, and then it went quickly.
