Almost six weeks after the parliamentary election in Spain, king Felipe VI, has appointed the incumbent Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, with the formation of the government. Felipe had proposed after two days of consultations with party leaders Sánchez as a candidate, said President Meritxell Batet in Madrid. A date for the election in Parliament is not fixed yet.

Sánchez’ socialist party had won the parliamentary election by the end of April. With 123 out of 350 Seats you came on more mandates than in the past, however, they do not have their own majority in the Parliament.
