HERNING, denmark (Ekstra Bladet): Even big stars have – or have had – idols, role models, players, they have borrowed from and stolen from. Ekstra Bladet has asked a number of the current Danish WORLD cup players, who they have had a crush on as a boy, puppies and as adults.

We also asked what the biggest håndboldoplevelse has been so far. OLYMPICS-gold in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, weighing, of course, heavy to them, that was to the triumph – but there are also a few surprises in between…

TWO QUESTIONS

1: What players in your position have inspired you – currently and/or historically

2: What is the biggest håndboldoplevelse in your life so far?

1: There are many, but if I had to mention someone, I have studied, there is surely a parade from the Jonas Källmann for his defending for Lars Christiansen and Uwe Gensheimer. Maybe I am even slightly in the direction of Källman, a wing who can cover a back or a forward, so him I have previously looked great on.

2: My first year in Kolding, where I, as a 19-year-old got a pretty big role and was to win the DM. It was a great experience at the time. Besides I have already been to two finals in the past, and it is in itself great experiences – although it has been outside the medals.

1: There is a lot of. I continued in any order, Nikola Karabatic, Mikkel and Andy Schmid. It is sateme a close field, but I will probably also point to Luka Cindric. He is really skilled.

2: the OLYMPICS is probably the biggest experience. It is hard to tops, although the two championships in the club also was big in a different way. OL is short and intense, a championship is the work of a whole year. But the OLYMPICS is probably just a mulehår front.

1: If it is about someone who has inspired me, so it is clearly Christian Hjermind and Søren Strokes, as were the two who were on the national team just before I came to. I managed to play a little with them. So is Luc Abalo, of course, a player who for many years have been worth seeing. He has a good spring and a good wrist.

2: You think about the so often in the titles, but if I have to move myself outside of them, I will say my first finals. It blew me away! It was in Germany in 2007 just before, I myself came down to play. A group stage with a packed hall in Kiel – a sea of danes – and some absolutely insane battles. The finals was absolutely amazing, even though I was sick along the way.

1: Then, I started to define what it really is, I play… But as a defender I think we are many who are impressed by the career of Didier Dinart had. His tactical overview and the ability to keep themselves out of trouble and almost avoid playing with the expulsions. He got directed pieces such around, that he got too many boxing, and amazing that he did it so many places and over so many years.

2: It is a really good question… I know damn well not. I could say the OLYMPIC gold, but it is such a one, I as, where appropriate, draw up of the name. I almost think the WORLD cup final in Spain… It was in many ways a great experience – in good and evil. It was my first finals, where it went amazingly well for both myself and the team, and I am totally with you on that we fell through in the final. For full crush. But it still stands as a big håndboldoplevelse.

1: Nikola Karabatic and Stefan Lövgren from Sweden are among those I can remember. But I’m probably one of the few that really has seen very little handball, until I became a professional. Currently, we are out in the Sander Sagosen, who plays well and has a big role in Paris. He is one of topkandidaterne on the position as left-back and playmaker.

2: I would say that the championship in the summer of Flensburg was crazy. It was so awesome a trip all the way to the last two matches, where we stood even and be able to determine it, and it was wild to see how the players who have been in the club for so long, reacted, as they stood in so the pressure of a situation. We had players who were hard to throw and grip, there was so much nervousness, people were afraid to win eventually. the

1: Thierry Omeyer has meant incredibly much for håndboldens history and won a lot of titles, and then there is Tomas Svensson, who also has won a lot – and as I have had a lot to do here on the national team. Then there is Kasper White, Sterbik… I don’t think there is one that juts up right now. Most have their moments or periods where they are the best, but I can not mention one that is clearly ahead of the others.

2: the OLYMPIC gold!

1: I think, that such as Ludovic Fabregas has evolved enormously. He’s just 22 years old and my youngest baby brother’s vintage, but it is an absolutely tremendous development, he has undergone the last few years. He plays at a crazy high level.

I would also like to mention Michael V. Knudsen. He has always been my role model and big idol. He is a warrior in battle and for training, it is impressive, and he just gets on and on.

2: Well, it’s the OLYMPICS-the gold. It was a special experience, not least in light of my injury and the progress up to. I reached it together with my brother, and that is not something that is going to beat it. I can say already now.

1: Ludovic Fabregas. Despite the fact that he is very young, he is a major player on the French national team. He plays with so great authority, that he looks like someone who has played at this level in decades. He shows great composure and is already an established player.

2: these are the two titles I have won with Flensburg. The German championship last year and the pokaltitel we won in the past. The German championship is one of the hardest to win. You know, you can not allow you to throw the points, so all the matches are important.

1: There are many. I think Spain’s målmandspar is really fun to look at. Gonzalo Vargas is a little smaller goalie, as I think many can be inspired by. Here you can see that you don’t need to be two feet to stand well on target. Rodrigo Corrales makes technically many things right, but he does it in a slightly fun way. He looks a little uskolet out, but is really good.

2: Landsholdsmæssigt is the OLYMPIC gold. The finale stands as something completely unique and crazy. I will also mention the european championship finals on home soil in 2014. It was my second finals, and it was an absolutely incredible experience.

1: Sander Sagosen from Norway is a great player. What he is doing along with Mikkel Hansen in Paris, is great quality. He is a very complete player. He is a pleasure.

2: It was really fun to be in to win the european gold medal in 2012. The WORLD cup in 2013 was also a good experience right up until we had to play the finale. The Champions League final with Atletico Madrid, is also high on the list, even though we lost. But just being in the Final 4 in Cologne was a great experience.

1: My mate in Barcelona, Aitor Arino, is really good to steal balls and to be in the 5:1. In addition, he is prompt, and he has a good technique.

2: the OLYMPICS gold. It was a big experience. But I also think that the last year in Hanover was good because of the way we as a relatively small club performed at, and teased the big teams. It was also a bold håndboldoplevelse.

1: I can highlight Uwe Gensheimer of Germany, which is quite amazing to look at. On his best days, he is kropumulig to manage.

2: I have been privileged. I have had many great experiences on the klubplan and won very much. I think I’m approaching the 20 championships in Denmark and Germany. I will highlight the first German championship in Kiel. It was not so often, a dane could take down and win the toughest league in the world. It was special to be greeted by 20,000 people at the town hall square in Kiel.

The first league championship with the Rhein-Neckar region, I will also mention. We played in front of 2500 spectators, and of them was the 2000 and wept after the fight. It affected me so much.
