The number of deaths has risen to victims by the Tsunami in Indonesia on 281. More than 1000 people were injured. The rescue teams are progressing in the rubble slowly.

“I saw the huge waves at half past ten in the evening,” says the security man of a hotel. He is also shocked the day after that. “I ran to the guest rooms and have all that you should run away. Then we fled to higher ground.”
The hotel guests, and he did not survive the Tsunami, many others have had this luck. The coastal area of West Java, is popular with tourists and weekend trippers, many of the visitors come from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta – so, too, this weekend.
On the beaches there are many food stalls, small Restaurants, often in lightweight construction built. The people, the buildings, all of them are taken without warning. “The waves were two to three meters high, they were even higher, after they hit the walls. Three times you are pitched here, and each time they were stronger.”
