Three years later, on 21 January 2002, was murdered About the Topic of his own father. She had refused to let herself be married off with a cousin and wanted to share the future with his Swedish boyfriend, she wanted to get an education and live as a free woman.

the young girls and women to live in a hedersförtryck. They may not hit who they want, are married off against their will, forced to wear the veil and so on. Even young men can live in the name of honour shade.

just over a year ago, we wrote several articles about hedersförtryck and violence. We met disappointment on the part of women who felt that they were fighting an uphill battle, spoke with young girls who testified about his vulnerability and with the chief of police, which has long worked to hedersbrotten need to be investigated more carefully.

We felt a despair and sometimes despair during the work. Why had so little happened since the murders of Pela and About? Why any women who fought against the hedersförtryck of the Swedish society? Why, we had done so little – that dads, journalists, and fellow human beings?

we decided on the Inside of us in order to follow up the series of articles that we published in the beginning of 2018. We noticed that politicians from all parties now compete to show the muscles and at a furious pace presents a proposal to stop the hedersförtrycket.

Prime minister Stefan Löfven are among those who have taken in the hard of the debate. Gender equality Åsa Lindhagen, who is being interviewed here, is also clear that all forms of hedersförtryck and violence in the name of honour must be stopped.

But something going to happen? Stop it just to be empty words? It must be organised annual remembrance ceremonies for the Pela and About the future? Or will the day when no longer need to be afraid of being married off, or even murdered – simply because of their desire for freedom?
