Discussions in the media and allegations of suspected money laundering affect all who have an interest in Swedbank. We of course take the situation very seriously.

The last few weeks have been tough for both our customers and employees. In addition, the share prices have fallen and confidence in the bank has been adversely affected.

to forestall and prevent suspected money laundering as well as spend considerable resources to comply with the regulatory framework applicable to the bank’s activities and the other obligations we have as a bank. In the situation that has arisen, we are cooperating with the authorities and other stakeholders.

Right now, we are awaiting the results of ongoing internal and external investigations. The result of them will be important for the bank. At present we can not say how long this may take.

We understand that confidence has been damaged by recent events and realize humbly that we are going to have to work to regain it. Openness and transparency are extremely important to us.

to answer some of the questions we get, to give our view, bring clarity and calm troubled customers. But unfortunately, among other things, the banking secrecy that we can’t answer all of the questions.

Beyond the discussion of a suspected money laundering continues banking as usual, including savings, loans and payments. We are the nearly 15,000 employees who every day do our very best to care about our customers and that they should have a long-term sustainable economy.

Agreement and deposit guarantees continue to apply. Our customers can feel secure in their relationship to us.
