It’s an open secret: Christophe Galtier will not coach Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023-24 season. According to information from the newspaper Le Parisien, Luis Campos, PSG football adviser, informed the French technician on Tuesday that he will not continue the adventure, a year after his arrival. The club has not yet formalized the news, half-confirmed by L’Équipe.

With PSG, Galtier (56) won the Champions Trophy upon his arrival, and a title of champion of France acquired less than two weeks ago. An orphan record of the main objective, the Champions League, the Parisians having been eliminated by Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

Beyond the results, the low quality of the game offered did not help, any more than extra-sporting matters (accusations of racism in Nice, hasty announcement of Lionel Messi’s departure…). Galtier had been taken in dislike by the public of the Parc des Princes, who copiously whistled him at the end of the season and in particular during the presentation of the Ligue 1 title, last Saturday.

According to L’Équipe, German coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) is expected by Wednesday in Paris to succeed Galtier. Qatar would have put its name at the top of its list. The name of Thierry Henry is still under consideration for the post of assistant. Nagelsmann has been free since his ousting from Bayern Munich last March, a few days after eliminating … PSG in the Champions League.
