The number sounds impressive: 285.914 apartments were built in the past year – as many as in the past twelve years. But that’s not enough – and is far below what you are aiming for, the government.
in Spite of the great demand in many cities, housing construction in Germany is barely in swing. In the past year, nationwide 285.914 new housing units were completed, according to the Federal Statistical office. That was almost 1100 more than in the year 2017.
“in 2011, The positive development which began thus continued”, – stated in the press release of the Federal office. A higher number of dwellings completed have given it to the last being in 2002.
the Union and the SPD had in its coalition agreement, however, the goal that by the year 2021, some 1.5 million apartments will be built. That would be per year of about 375,000. The construction assumes that per year, 350,000 to 400,000 dwellings would have to be, to meet the demand.
