It has been 45 years since UNESCO focused on this Andalusian region with which it kicks off a weekly series that will visit some of the most spectacular and appetizing Biosphere Reserves in Spain.

In January 1977, the first Biosphere Reserve in Spain was designated. This UNESCO recognition fell on a territory straddling Cádiz and Málaga: the Sierra de Grazalema. It was the spearhead of a network that today has 53 members
