Twenty-seven years after Menteuse (Stock), her semi-autobiographical novel, actress and director Sophie Marceau launches into poetry with La Souterraine, a set of short stories, fables and poems presented Friday by Seghers editions. Expected for May 4, this collection signed by the 56-year-old actress displays thirteen stories and seven poems that respond and complement each other.
The whole feeds “a central subject: the female destiny, expressed by a body, an education, the way we look at you, a role, a heritage”, writes in a press release the publishing house specializing in the publication of poetry. These texts will evoke several sets, “cinema sets, childhood gardens, luxury hotels or wastelands”, crossed by “heroines, girls, young women, lovers or lovers, mothers or grandmothers”, specifies the text.
“Through stories, fables, fragments of life, poems, it is always a question of revealing a mystery, a secret, the underground part… The words insinuate themselves as it should to touch what there is to touch and say what there is to say about it”, adds the publishing house in its brief press release.
Mentor evoked in the form of autofiction the childhood in a modest environment, the first loves, the career in the cinema and the theater, from Cannes to Hollywood. A French actress with an international career, Sophie Marceau has been known since her debut in La Boum by Claude Pinoteau. Adored by the public, she regularly appears at the top of the list of favorite personalities of the French.
