Closed since April 18, will the section of the A13 motorway weakened by cracks reopen at the beginning of May? Invited on RMC this Monday morning, the Minister responsible for Transport returned to this issue closely scrutinized by motorists using this route passing through the west of Paris. The news is not good: the resumption of traffic, normally expected at the beginning of May, “will probably be postponed”, announced Patrice Vergriete. Le Figaro takes stock of the latest information:
A technical meeting is planned for this Monday evening “to take a complete stock of the situation and specify the reopening timetable,” the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine explained on Friday. Several hypotheses are on the table, between a rapid reopening or a “longer” one, the Minister of Transport said this Monday morning. An option going hand in hand with “substitution formulas to help the inhabitants of this part of Île-de-France”. Once reopened, the axis also risks not being accessible for all vehicles, detailed the member of the government: questioned about the prospect of a partial resumption, he confirmed that “this risks being the case, most likely, at the time of reopening. to take a complete look at the situation and specify the reopening timetable.
“Improvement solutions” were also mentioned by the minister, such as “complementary offers in terms of trains” or help from carpooling platforms. The A14, however, will not be made free. This idea had been formulated by several elected officials, including the boss of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, or the deputy (Renaissance) for Yvelines, Karl Olive, but the executive is opposed to it. “We looked, and it would perhaps be even worse than the disease, because we would saturate the La Défense tunnel,” explained Patrice Vergriete.
On Friday, the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine announced the extension of the closure of the A13, between Vaucresson and Paris, while the resumption of traffic was expected from May 1. “Very weak ground movements were observed. It therefore appears necessary to continue the investigations initiated and to carry out additional analyses,” explained the State representative. In the meantime, users are invited to find alternative solutions. The axis, emptied of cars, is not deserted: walkers, sportsmen and animals go there from time to time, enjoying an extremely rare moment of calm on a usually crowded highway.
