President Emmanuel Macron will receive agricultural union organizations “next week” as he had promised during the Agricultural Show, government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot announced on Wednesday. “The Prime Minister received the main trade union organizations Monday evening in Matignon, and the President of the Republic will receive them next week to continue moving forward,” declared Prisca Thevenot during the report of the council of ministers.

Representatives of three agricultural unions indicated that Gabriel Attal had asked them during this meeting in Matignon what measures the President of the Republic could announce at their next meeting to put an end to the mobilization of farmers. The government, in an attempt to appease the anger of the profession which exploded in January, has already committed to numerous projects. The protest movement has subsided since the beginning of February but actions are still carried out sporadically and the unions remain demanding.
