France will take inspiration from the Netherlands to imagine a single ticketing system for transport, the governments of the two countries said on Thursday.
On the sidelines of Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the Netherlands on Wednesday, French Transport Minister Clément Beaune and Dutch Infrastructure Minister Mark Harbers have undertaken to “strengthen their cooperation in the service of transport decarbonization”, they said. in a press release.
The Netherlands has an “elaborate system of unified and interoperable ticketing, usable on all transport in the territory”, underline the two ministries. In France, Clément Beaune would like to launch a similar single ticket within two years, and experiments could be launched in the coming months. The goal is a “single transport ticket on a national scale”, said the French ministry in February, the minister clearly distinguishing the “support” from the “tariff” of the ticket.
A “partnership” between the two countries, the outlines of which are not known, will make it possible to “share expertise and feedback, for the benefit of national projects and users of transport services”, according to the Thursday press release.
