French household consumption expenditure accentuated its decline in March according to figures published Friday by INSEE, which show a 1.3% drop in purchases of goods over one month, after -0, 8% in February.
This new fall is explained above all by the sharp decline (-2.4¨% compared to February) in the consumption of food products, while their price jumped by nearly 16% over one year in March. Over the first quarter as a whole, consumption of goods fell by 0.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, details the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
