Yet another hassle for Tanguy, whose train had already been more than 4 hours late during the giant breakdown that occurred on July 28 following violent storms. This Sunday, a power supply failure in Massy (Essonne) is the cause of significant disruptions across the entire Atlantic axis. “I realized the delay, by chance, by consulting the SNCF app, we did not get a message on board the train,” laments this regular user of the line which serves his native Brittany. He was ultimately barely an hour and a half late for his Quimper-Paris train, diverted to Nantes.
In total, several dozen TGV Inoui or Ouigo trains have been affected by the disruptions since the beginning of the morning, with still nearly 2 hours of delay in the middle of the afternoon on trains departing from Paris, direction Saint-Malo, Bordeaux, Toulouse and even La Rochelle. Some trains have even been canceled, like Ouigo 7623 scheduled for 3:48 p.m. towards Nantes. And even more delays for trains arriving at Gare Montparnasse.
The incident was caused by a break in a power cable at the entrance to a tunnel, at midday near Massy. An Inoui train, thus blocked on the line, had to be evacuated, its passengers transported by an emergency train, with a delay of six hours.
“The SNCF Réseau teams have completed the repair of the electrical installations. Power is restored. Train circulation will be able to gradually resume,” indicated the SNCF before 6 p.m. However, the delays are expected to last until the end of the evening, according to a spokesperson.
