A release date that’s getting closer. The arrival of GTA 6, one of the most anticipated games of the decade, should be released in the fall of 2025, the company and the game’s distributor, Take-Two Interactive, announced this Thursday, May 16. “We are convinced that Rockstar Games (developer and publisher of the game) will offer an unparalleled entertainment experience and our expectations regarding the commercial impact of the title continue to grow,” said Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick during of an investors meeting.

On social networks, it was enough to trigger the fervor of GTA fans. In a few hours, the name GTA 6 was already among the trending keywords on the X platform (ex-twitter). “GTA 6 at the end of 2025…I already know that my end of next year will be happy,” exclaims an Internet user. To symbolize their wait, others have fun publishing photos of themselves as teenagers, at the time of the release of GTA V in 2013, and a recent photo where they are now adults. A way of illustrating the time that has passed since the discovery of this opus.

In 2013, it must be said that GTA V had enjoyed extraordinary success. Three days after its release, it already generated $1 billion in revenue. Ten years later, it’s almost 8 billion. This adventure taking place in the fictional city of Los Santos (very largely inspired by Los Angeles) had attracted millions of players, who had to carry out a series of heists to survive. The game has sold 190 million copies and more than 5 million in France. GTA V was first released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, then re-released on PC, Playstation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series.

The first trailer for GTA 6 has been viewed more than 190 million times since December 4, 2023. It reached 100 million views in less than 30 hours of availability. This sixth episode promises to be at least as satirical as the previous parts of the saga, which has specialized over the years in criticism of American society.

While GTA IV made a mockery of the “American dream”, and GTA V pointed out the growing social divide in the United States, this GTA VI seems to denounce the harmful influence of social networks and disinformation. The first trailer, unveiled last December, heavily mocked influencers looking for buzz.

Taking place in the fictional American state of Leonida, a crazy version of Florida, GTA 6 has already diverted many very real news stories in its first trailer, notably showing the arrest of a man with a face covered in tattoos. The image, visible below, is reminiscent of the arrest of a sexual predator nicknamed the Florida Joker, in July 2023. The person concerned, Lawrence Sullivan, also accused Rockstar Games of being inspired by him without his consent.

GTA 6 will be available on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series development studio, were released many months after the console versions.
