Film Christian Bale (44) is widely acclaimed for his role as former vice president Dick Cheney in the film ‘Vice’. He was already a Golden Globe and the Oscar nomination he has in his pocket. What is remarkable about his performance, of course, is the big transformation that he underwent to Cheney to look like. But that is he tired. “It is harmful for my body.”
For “Vice” had to Bale 44 kilos arrive, and it is not the first time that he had his weight so drastically needed to change. Through the years the actor, who 1m83 long, all between the ages of 55 and 90 pounds weighted. Neither extremes are healthy. In ‘Velvet Goldmine’ played Bale a filmjournalist that his own identity was discovered as a gay man in the Bowie-inspired glam rock-scene of the British ‘70s. The transformation has been driven by his hairstyle and bright clothes, but the role also asked for a lean stature. “I ate mostly soup and got up in the morning at 6 am to go running. When my mother one day came to stay, she quipped: ‘Christian, what are you doing? You live a lot to be healthy, that they did in the ‘70s. Just the opposite. She ate almost nothing and drank a lot of alcohol. Maybe you have that but try it out. And, well, that worked.”
