The arrival of a new American giant in France is becoming clearer. In a press release released on Thursday, Krispy Kreme, one of the behemoths of donuts – these famous pastries across the Atlantic -, confirmed the upcoming opening of a store in Paris. The brand’s “flagship” will be located in the Westfield Forum in Les Halles, just above Châtelet-les Halles station. It will welcome its first customers “before the end of this year”.
The shopping center “is the first stone in the deployment of Krispy Kreme in the [Paris] region, with the opening in 2024 of around ten signed points of sale”, explains Alexandre Maizoué, general manager of Krispy Kreme Donuts France, quoted in the press release. The store will start fitting out “in the next few weeks”, and the brand is looking to “hire around 100 Krispy Kremers to support the brand’s ambitious development plan”. In addition, in this shop – this “temple of the donut”, as the director describes it -, customers will see the pastries made before their eyes.
This is not the first time that an American giant has set up in France. Wendy’s, Popeyes, Five Guys and Burger King have followed McDonald’s lead in recent years. France will be “the sixth country” in which Krispy Kreme has been deployed “since 2022”. The brand, founded by Vernon Rudolph in 1937, has already been deployed in Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, Jordan, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Chile. It operates in France “through a joint venture created in September 2022 with Wagram Finances (Columbus Café, Copper Branch)”. It will also be possible to find its products in supermarkets and supermarkets, and to benefit from “delivery”, in the near future, concludes the brand.
