Moby Announces New Album and European Tour for Animal Rights

Moby, the electronic music star, is set to return to the stage in Europe this fall to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his iconic album Play. He will be donating the proceeds from the tour to organizations that share his passion for animal rights. The tour will feature songs from his albums Play, 18, and Hotel, with a focus on giving the audience what they want to hear.

The concert at the Zénith in Paris on September 24 will showcase hits from the Play album, such as Porcelain, Natural Blues, and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?. This tour marks Moby’s first concert dates in over a decade, with additional stops in Manchester, London, Antwerp, Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Lausanne.

In addition to the tour, Moby will be releasing a new album, “Always Centered At Night,” on June 14. The album, named after his record label established in 2022, features collaborations with various artists. Moby, who has been a vegan for 37 years, is a passionate advocate for animal rights, sporting tattoos with the words “Animal Rights” and “Vegan for Life.”

To further his cause, Moby strategically engages in activism across political, philanthropic, and media spheres. He acknowledges the challenges posed by the political landscape, particularly during the presidential race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Moby believes that Biden’s camp may be hesitant to openly support veganism for fear of alienating voters, while Trump’s lack of regard for animals reflects his narcissistic nature.

Moby’s commitment to animal rights is deeply rooted in his personal experiences, having released an album titled Animal Rights in 1996 and a documentary exploring the connection between punk culture and veganism in 2023. His journey towards veganism began in his teenage years, driven by a sense of empathy towards animals and a rejection of societal norms.

One of Moby’s new songs, “Where is your pride?”, features Benjamin Zephaniah, a British actor, singer, and poet known for his activism and vegan lifestyle. Their collaboration highlights the intersection of art and activism in Moby’s work, showcasing his dedication to using music as a platform for social change.
