Will helicopters bow out around Saint-Tropez? Faced with the noise pollution caused by the overflight of the peninsula by these machines, the executive had promised to act to guarantee calm to the inhabitants of the territory. It is now done: to reduce the noise pollution of these devices used by a wealthy clientele, an administrative decree, issued on August 16, imposes restrictions on the municipalities of Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle, Gassin, Grimaud, Cogolin, La Mole , La Croix-Valmer and Sainte-Maxime.
In detail, the rules of use vary according to the private or commercial aspect of these flights. During the periods from January 1 to April 30 and from October 16 to December 31 inclusive, the overflight of private helicopters will be prohibited at night and limited to 4 per day and 8 per week. Commercial helicopters, meanwhile, will be reduced to 4 per day and 12 per week. From May 1 to September 15 inclusive, helipads for private use will be prohibited before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Commercial machines will not be able to fly before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. In addition, the number of movements allowed on commercial helipads has been limited.
“I was committed to it, it’s done,” welcomed the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune on X. “Less flights, less noise, more protection” of nature, did he -he adds. At the end of May, the member of the government had instructed the prefect of Var to reduce by 80% the number of helicopters flying over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Something to restore a bit of tranquility to this little corner of paradise highly prized by tourists, and especially the wealthiest.
