“Popstars” is making a comeback on Prime Video this fall, bringing back the iconic reality show that was originally aired on M6. The show is set to premiere on Thursday, September 12, with the first four episodes being released on Amazon’s streaming platform. The following four episodes will be available a week later on September 19.
The concept of the show remains the same, following the journey of creating a music group from coaching sessions to recordings and eliminations. Contestants will have to sing, dance, and learn to work together with their peers while discovering the behind-the-scenes of the music industry.
Unlike previous seasons, there is no limit to the number of group members or the genre of music they can perform. This flexibility was showcased in past seasons with groups like Whatfor, composed of Cyril, Nicolas, Érika, and Monia.
One of the exciting changes for the upcoming season is the new judging panel, featuring Louane, Eddy de Pretto, and Alonzo. These three well-known figures in the music industry will select the winning group, who will be signed to Parlophone, a label under Warner Music France.
“Popstars” originally aired in 2001 and has seen five seasons, with the last one airing on D8 in 2013. The show has been responsible for launching successful music groups like L5 and Linkup, as well as introducing new talents like M. Pokora, Chimène Badi, and Sheryfa Luna.
Fans of the show can look forward to an exciting new season filled with talent, drama, and the thrill of watching aspiring musicians chase their dreams. Stay tuned for the premiere of “Popstars” on Prime Video this September!
