Coldplay Teases Return with New Single Coming Soon

Prepare yourselves: Chris Martin and his friends have announced the imminent arrival of their first single in 3 years.

Is Coldplay a real rock band? According to Bono, the answer is clearly no. The U2 leader has once again made headlines with this recent declaration, reigniting excitement around the relatively quiet English band since the release of Music Of The Spheres in 2021. And guess what? They seem ready for their big comeback, as indicated by an Instagram post announcing the release of a first single with the codename “First Time.”

Coldplay, it’s the beginning of the end. Like Shaka Ponk in a different genre, Coldplay seems to have scheduled its self-destruction by announcing a few months ago that the band will stop releasing new albums in 2025. Martin believes that “Coldplay will stop after 12 albums [we are at 9, Editor’s note] because it’s a lot to dedicate to their production.” An elegant way to find an exit strategy and avoid the dreaded “album too many,” no doubt. But in the meantime, fans eagerly await the successor to Music of the Spheres, already known as Moon Music. Unless something unexpected happens, the latter will be released this year, preceded by the first single “First Time.”

Goal: reduce its (carbon) footprint. While technically there are still 3 albums left before the band’s discographic end, Coldplay remains true to its environmental commitments – the band has long been fighting against the pollution from its own concerts. The latest announcement: a 59% reduction in its carbon footprint on the Music of the Spheres tour, including the implementation of kinetic floors (allowing the jumps of spectators to recharge the concert equipment batteries), biodegradable confetti, and solar panels throughout the tour. Bonus: 7 million trees planted to offset the impossible to reduce Co2 emissions. A great initiative for a band that paradoxically will return in 2024 before disappearing next year.
