The clash of the 23rd day of the Italian Championship on Sunday between Inter Milan and Juventus Turin, its runner-up at one point, “will not be decisive” for the title, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri said on Saturday .

“The championship does not end on Sunday, there are still many matches after, this match will not be decisive, it will only give three points to the winner,” Allegri declared at a press conference. “It’s a great meeting, we have to make the most of it and play it with our best weapons knowing that we will be facing a great team that is doing good things,” he continued.

As he has done regularly since the start of the season, the Italian technician recalled that he considered Inter “as the strongest team in our championship and the favorite to win the title”. He also reiterated that Juve’s goal was to finish in the top 4 and qualify for the Champions League.

“This match is a step, but there are still others after, we need to score a lot more points to achieve our objective which is to participate in the Champions League,” he insisted . “What matters now are the points we will score until the end of the season,” noted Allegri, whose team is 18 points ahead of 5th place, occupied by AS Roma .

For this 251st edition of the “Italian derby”, Allegri will have all his players available, including Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot who missed Juve’s last two matches due to injury. “Rabiot is a very important player, who has weight in our game and in our locker room,” underlined Allegri who admitted to being “impressed” by another French international, Inter striker Marcus Thuram.
