Federico Linares has indicated that we all have to do our bit to carry out the energy transition, which although he has said it has a cost, it is a “necessity and an opportunity”.

Federico Linares, president of EY Spain, has spoken about the energy transition and impacts on society from a corporate and personal point of view at the III International EXPANSION Forum organized in collaboration with the international think tank The European House Ambrosetti and which has been held since yesterday at the hostel in Alcalá de Henares.

The head of EY Spain has highlighted two reflections. The first of them is a comprehensive transformation of the way we work, and it is not just about energy diversification, “it is a transformation of the way we produce, move and consume! And his second reflection has been that the ecological transition goes hand in hand with digitization and talent, which is “particularly scarce”. He has defined the attraction of talent as a “monumental challenge that cannot be solved with technology alone”.

On the other hand, he has indicated that EY has a very specific commitment to the increase in the planet’s temperature, in terms of reducing C02 emissions, which last year reduced them to 400,000 equivalent tons of C02 and its roadmap includes leaving them to zero in 2025. But Linares has highlighted that “this is a minimal contribution to this great global problem for 2050”.

“As a professional services firm, we believe that we help more by making our knowledge and experience available to our clients to address challenges in the supply chain, technology, cybersecurity, information, sustainability data… That is where we believe that we contribute. I think we all have to have that personal commitment”.

Federico Linares has indicated that the rise in inflation derives from the current situation, and in particular the War. from Ukraine. And advance a data that will be published later and is that the consensus of the main economists that the inflationary pressure is not transitory, according to 70% of those surveyed. The reason is that this inflationary pressure “we had it before the war.” This also entails, he said, a food safety risk that is also present in the localization of supply chains, the reduction of the workforce or the reduction in the supply of technology… And he has admitted that the ” ecological transition has a cost that will continue to generate inflation”, “but it is a necessity, an opportunity”.
