After a levee was breached in the East of Canada more than 5000 people have left in the night from Saturday to Sunday near Montreal their homes. “Fortunately, nobody was injured, nobody is missing,” said a police spokesman. As a result of the levee break, a flood wave rolled up to 1.50 meters in height by the area. Hundreds of police officers, firefighters and soldiers helped to clear out the nearly 2,600 households in the suburb of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac.
A local resident told Radio-Canada from the Happened: “We had no time to do anything, the water rose while we talked, I had just time for my medication.”
In the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario had heavy rain and mass of water from the snow melt, the river level to rise dangerously. Montreal and Ottawa proclaimed the end of the week a state of emergency. In Quebec, 8,000 people had to flee before the mass of water that 6000 homes were flooded – more than two years ago, when the worst flood was looking for for the last 50 years the area home.
