WORLD: What was the worst thing about the war?
Ivan Trofimovich Kulibaba: The most difficult psychological moment for me was when I found myself under a burning boat in the village of Stanichka and thought about what to do – either surrender or drown in Tsemesskaya Bay. But I didn’t have time to think long and swam to the bay with my comrades. The rest of my time at the front was hard work every day.
