In a new book about the reggaesangerinden Natasja Saad tells her friend Karen Mukupa for the first time at length about the car accident in Jamaica in June 2007, Natasja died. the

After performing at Reggae Sunsplash sat Natasja Saad himself into the back seat of a rented car along with her 16-year-old girlfriend, breakdanseren Tyquan. the

Karen Mukupa, who was in the car, tells in the book:

’I put me in the front seat next to Damian. I took it as a matter of course, to Natasja, after she had not seen Tyquan on the whole trip, would like to sit and merge the fingers with him. She sat on the back seat in the middle with Tyquan, on the one hand and Simeon on the other.’ the

Mukupa had a seat belt on
Karen Mukupa took the harness on. The driver, Damian, drove reckless, but Karen Mukupa tells in the book, that it was not her impression that he was either drunk or high. the

’There was the hustle to get out on the paved highway. Damian was anxious. He ran close to the front and honked at them. I took my seat belt on and looked about in the backseat. I was tired and just wanted home.’ the

’When the driver came up on the road, he turned down towards the beach instead of running against Kingston.’ the

Reckless overtaking
’I protested, but Damian just laughed. He speeded-up up and made a reckless overtaking. We all cried together, for it was evident that he could not reach to right before it went wrong. Fortunately, we managed it in the last moment. Damian laughed, relieved.’ the

’And so it was, as if he would show that he had control over the situation by recklessly to let the car wobble a little from side to side. Suddenly came out of control and skidded. It was so strong, that I was not able to perceive what happened. I first came to myself as the car kept quiet. All of the sound had subsided. Just like in a movie’, says Karen Mukupa. the

Karen Mukupa crawled dazed and in slow motion out of the car. the

Running confused around
’I looked back and saw Damian pull a person out of the car. And it was only when she was completely out, I could see that it was Natasja. She had blodstænk. Instinctively I began to shout in an ambulance. Traffic stopped and people got out of their cars to see what was going on.’ the

A young couple offered their help and bar Natasja into the back seat of their car. the

”Sit next to here’, I was told. I put myself in to Natasja in the back seat, so I could keep her upright during the trip to the hospital. Natasjas breathing became more strained.’ the

Karen Mukupa pleaded with her friend to breathe. the

Prayed to God in three languages
’I prayed to God in Danish, English and swahili.’ the

the Driver of the car pleaded with Karen Mukupa on to say to the police that it was Natasja who had driven it. Then he thrust, but told himself later. the

On a stretcher inside the emergency room was Natasja. She had blood under his nose and only a small rift on the cheek. She looked like someone slept there. But she was dead. the
