Singapore do not completely take kindly to freedom of expression, in particular not when it concerns race and religion, even if explicit prohibition is relatively uncommon. Earlier in the year was banned, however, the Swedish metal band Watain from playing in the country. A scheduled concert was cancelled after pressure from the country’s interior ministry, which expressed “serious concern” over the Watains “the history of blackness down the religions to encourage violence, which is liable to cause hostility and to disrupt Singapore’s harmony in the society”.
and Ariana Grande, however, has played in Singapore in the past and the list does not mean that they are forbidden to do it again.
