the ROME – The UNHCR, the United Nations Agency for Refugees, reminds us of the high degree of insecurity of civilians in Syria’s north-west. The humanitarian crisis is taking on aspects desperate, forcing a large number of people to escape. The UNHCR, in the context of the humanitarian response of the United Nations, is stepping up efforts to ensure assistance to those who need it. Starting from the beginning of December 2019, about 700,000 people have fled internally or outside of the areas affected by the conflict in the governorates of Idlib and Aleppo. The urgent need to find shelter is exacerbated by the harsh climatic conditions in winter. Many civilians have already been forced to flee several times and have had to leave their property, often without being able to have access to other accommodations in which to live.

Cluttering everywhere. The fields and settlements of internally displaced people are overcrowded, and the availability of spaces in existing buildings is increasingly scarce. Many schools and mosques are overcrowded by displaced families, and even find spaces in the crumbling buildings has become almost impossible. The UNHCR intends to ensure assistance to all the people who need it, wherever they are and through all available channels. The UNHCR is providing the necessities of life of which there is most urgent need, such as tents and blankets, in collaboration with its humanitarian partners.

The distribution of aid won’t cover all. , However, the distribution of such items will satisfy only a small part of the overall needs, given that the recent exodus forced have made even more inadequate response capacities. It is necessary to ensure, with urgency, more resources and funding. The protection services offered to displaced persons, the most vulnerable have been extended. Among these, we record those psychosocial counselling and support in emergencies, including those for a large number of children. The conflict in Syria has caused the migration crisis of a more wide-ranging worldwide. More than 5.5 million syrians are refugees in the region and over six million are displaced internally in their Country.
