she felt better now, after years in which Dolores O’riordan with depression had fought. The Cranberries singer bought a house near her Irish hometown of Limerick, examined the furniture to your new home. But a little later, on 15. January 2018, was found dead O’Riordan in a London hotel room, dead. She was 46 years old. Cause of death: an Overdose of alcohol.
“Dolores was looking forward to her future and the Album they had already recorded Demos, and was on the leap forward,” says Fergal Lawler, drummer of the Band, when he talks about the time before the sudden death of O’riordan. “Dolores was in a good Phase of your life,” says Bassist Michael Hogan, at the Meeting in Zurich. Of its newfound Confidence, the Songs that are heard on the new Cranberries Album, “In the End” to tell. So the Album is only those disappoint who want to make a note of Death. “Some people thought that you will hear in the Songs, that with her something happens.”

“In the End” is based on the voice recordings O’Riordans, which she had in her former hometown of New York and what are the musicians on various hard drives have been found. When they discovered this, they felt that they needed to do a Job: “Dolores started it, and we wanted her – in consultation with your family.”
With a “Zombie” they were one of the biggest Bands
It is a solemn and touching farewell to an exceptional singer, because Dolores O’riordan is singing on their last recordings, like the early records of the Band. An innocence determined loose Songs like “Got It” or “Summer Song”, that you also feel the resulting force, which is stronger than the darkness, O’Riordan in “Lost,” sings, the darkest Song on the album. And thanks to the Sweet and the bitter sweet, is heard in the already released Singles, it seems as if you almost back in the 90s as the Cranberries with Hits like “Zombie” was one of the biggest Bands in the world.
When talking about these early days of the Band, then the musicians will remember Dolores O’riordan as a Person who had been very shy: “Dolores knew what she had for a voice, and familiar to them,” says Hogan. The Shy fit to you, because you, the Irish boy, had been first with Breakdancing and later with Bands like The Smiths or The Cure were concerned, very nervous and uncertain. During her first Tour on the European mainland, a phone came from the USA: “The College radio stations played our Song “Linger”, and the Management wanted to, that we quickly over flew in for a Tour. We stayed for six months,” says Fergal Lawler.
When she returned to Dublin, traveled, realized that had changed in the meantime, something like this: “At the airport the Fans were waiting, the journalists, and, of course, it was much easier for us with this new celebrity deal, as for Dolores, who was always in the centre.” The fame of the Band grew still, as of 1994, “No Need to Argue” was released, the Album with the Northern Ireland conflict Song “Zombie” that will remain with the chorus line “In your head” for ever in the minds. The Album has sold over 13 million times.
“We would have had to “No Need to Argue” take a break, but there was pressure, and so we went on Tour again.”Fergal Lawler
With its Pop-Rock-game type ended up the Cranberries at the time, between the major poles of that time: they not sounded after the suicidal Grunge that was in the USA at that time, determine. And they were certainly not Brit-Pop. Nevertheless, they celebrated successes on two continents at the same time. What was that for a time, such as in the live recording of their performance at the Woodstock anniversary festival in 1994. As the Band plays their early delicate Hit “Dreams” – and the young audience can be like a punk concert. Michael Hogan explains the former’s success with the emotional power, the broadcast Dolores O’riordan, with their voice, in their lyrics: “again and again, the Fans made themselves known to us, the said: “This Song saved my life.” The people took their lyrics to heart.”
these weddings were followed by setbacks: “We would have had to insert, after “No Need to Argue” is certainly a Pause,” recalls Fergal Lawler, “but there was pressure, and so we went into the Studio and back on Tour.” Later they stopped for long pauses, the Band was in the zero years, seven years on ice. You do not want to talk of a rift: “Our Band was like a family, with good times and bad times, but we shouted at us, never.”
“We are certainly not looking for new singer”
The two Cranberries-musicians tell of their last Tour, as the back pain of O’riordan is becoming stronger and more concerts have been impossible – and remember to work in the Studio, when the singer was still alive, “Dolores began her singing always in the night, as we were with our Parts already finished,” says Hogan. As the musicians were now “In the End” is finished and it was evening, they looked back to the door, in the expectation that you will now enter the room. “But you didn’t.”
The grief over the loss is in those moments especially close and tangible, even if the musicians are convinced that Dolores O’riordan would be happy with the now-finished Album, with the band’s history comes to an end. Definitely? “We are certainly not looking for a new singer – that would be too disrespectful and simply not true. Dolores you can’t replace,” says Fergal Lawler. He adds: “A few people asked if we are looking for someone new or a hologram Tour, but we said, noo, no.”
