As a child thought I Melodi Grand Prix was a real talent competition. That Norwegian hvemsomhelster to submit their contributions on the cassette, and then there was the best songs that were picked out to the Norwegian final. This explained the most: The unknown artists, the awkward framføringene and, occasionally, very bad songs. If there was a famine in the MGP, it was simply because Norway was not good on music that year.
time to bring this talent forward into the limelight again
Now I know of course the better. Per Sundnes was, after all, rikskjendis for hit-faint as the MGP-general. He had the ability to connect the right artist up with the right songwriter. It is entirely possible to send in contributions to the MGP, in 2017 for example, there was a record on the number of submissions, but the songs and the artists who end up in the finals is a carefully curated work. A mix and match of artists, songwriters and image, apparently put together according to the following principles:
1) Sjangerprinsippet: Pop, dance, rock, there must be a song for every taste. MGP will be the broadest entertainment programme on tv. It will collect the population and everyone should be able to find some they like. And be willing to pay five dollars to send them to Tel Aviv.
2) Kjønnsprinsippet: There must be a mannemann with hair on the chest. There must be a kvinnekvinne with the short dress. And so it must be all the possible variations between the two.
3) Glamprinsippet: at Least one artist must make use of the vindmaskin.
4) Utkantprinsippet: The dumbest one can do is to have too many from Oslo. There are artists with local roots that create engagement. It all know. Especially the sms department in the Norwegian broadcasting corporation.
5) Good, but not good enough-the principle: Songs for god’s sake don’t be so good that they can win the whole unit was secured. It has not NRK afford.
In the years MGP-the editors apparently focused this last principle.
this is pure recycling of people who have lost before.
So it went with the MGP-winners that disappeared Dagbladet Plus
There is one thing that Dagbladet reviewer, who is more than happy to throw gla’dice, do not provide more than one roll of the dice, five in its review of the year’s songs. There is something else that this year’s artists is first and foremost a bunch of former MGP – and realitydeltakere that never have reached all the way to the top. Several of them have been with both one and two times in the past – without that you remember the face and the song because of it.
Group Keiino consists, for example, by Tom Hugo Hermansen, who has been with twice before, Alexandra Rotan, who was in the last year, together with Stella Mwangi, and Peace Buljo, who has been with in “Norwegian Talents”. Carina Dahl have been the two times before, without getting further than delfinalene in Steinkjer (2013) and at Ørlandet (2011). Mørland won the Norwegian final with the “A monster like me” in 2015, a song that I, no matter how much I turn the brain, unable to remember hooken on.
There are, of course, because it doesn’t have a hook. the
Still stuck Mørland with the victory in front of Erlend Bratland, which of course is also with in Ingrid Berg Mehus has admittedly never been with in the past. Still, she is probably the one with the greatest MGP-compelling, she is the chick Alexander Rybak song in the “Fairytale”.
Speaking of Alexander: When Norway had to arrange the international MGP-final in 2010, it led to the fact that NRK had to sell the rights to the soccer world cup to the Viasat – and that the tv-series “Cozy with a fireplace”, “Buzz Aldrin” and the “Brothers” were exposed in several years, according to Dagsavisen. The transmission cost 211 million, nok 600 000 per minute.
NRK has everything to lose and nothing to win an international victory. Then it is easy to speculate on whether it has an impact on artistutvalget.
a time where Norwegian artists make it brilliant at the international level, where the Norwegian singer constantly has had a hand in the game on the tracks that climb up the Billboard charts, it’s strange that you can’t find any other for this year’s MGP than people who’ve been with – and lost – the past.
The witnesses in each case, not about aspirations.
Why was Alexander shielded the Newspaper Plus
