After the arms export ban to Saudi Arabia has been approved, the Federal government significantly more exports of arms to other on-the-Yemen-war countries involved. This is evident from the reply of the Federal government on questions of the Green party member of Parliament Omid Nouripour, the presence of the daily mirror.
While the coalition issued in the first half of the year their term of office, twelve licences for arms exports in the United Arab Emirates, which had a value of nearly five million euros, were added since the end of September 2018, a further 56 permits for the export of weapons in the country – with a total value of more than EUR 50 million.
The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are the key players in Yemen-a war that triggered a humanitarian catastrophe in the country. The supplies are also important because the Emirates to equip according to the human rights organization Amnesty International, Yemeni militias on a large scale with modern weapons.
Not only the United Arab Emirates will benefit from an increase of in Germany approved armor shops. A similar picture emerges for the Gulf state of Kuwait: Between March and September 2018, the German armor received, 16 companies permits for the export of military goods, the cost of half a Million euros. In the following half a year, 49 permits were added, the allowed exports had a value of more than EUR 47 million.
For the German armaments industry, however, cannot compensate for the sudden increase in transactions with other Gulf States, the loss of major customers Saudi Arabia. Between March and September of 2018, the Federal government had allowed exports with a value of more than 254 million euros, since then, no further authorisations have been granted.
After the murder of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, in October 2018, imposed Germany an arms export ban against the Gulf monarchy. The agreement is due to expire on Sunday, the SPD wants to extend the Moratorium, the Union is against it.

Already in the coalition agreement have been agreed by the Union and the SPD to approve any arms exports more to countries that are “directly” involved in the Yemen war in the dispute over arms exports.
