Bordered by fields and forests outside of Södertälje is a bunkerliknande building. Formerly belonged to the premises of the prison Hall, peeping out beyond the fields, but now houses the special ungdomsboendet Tysslinge, which opened in 2015.
Tysslinge is a so-called akutboende for non skolpliktiga boys and young men. The inmates are between the ages of 15 and 21 and they stay on average for ten weeks, even if a akutplacering actually the maximum should be eight weeks.
Here were reported 62 incidents in 2018. Most concerned the use of violence or threats. The number is low compared with many other detention centers. Lövsta in Sörmland, which were closed in the beginning of 2019, as a result of maladministration, reported, for example, of the 183 incidents during the same period.
the tall steel gates, and have turned the face towards the sun while she is waiting for us. She is the acting head since October, and have been in the start up of the business together with the former head.
” It was chaotic in the beginning. Just there to fill up with young people and a completely new staff. It was complete chaos in the beginning. ”Which rules should we keep, which should we not? Can we not just be more stringent so it will be easier? No, we should comply with the guidelines, we will comply with our values.”

Marie Jönsson has shown us on the other side of the high walls, into a conference room. On the walls of the sitting värdegrundsorden: Respect. Care. Clarity.
– It is easy to think that there are words that sit on the walls of all government agencies, but we have put them down. Used them. The square should sit where. There are rules that cannot be bend. Röktiderna, mattiderna, läggtiderna. But in-between get the squeak. We do not control up meticulously who should play video gaming or such things, they can practice to agree.
It is easy to kick a parent in the us.
you have ”tried everything,” says Marie Jönsson.
” Our biggest task is to motivate to the next step. This is an old prison. Location is the only thing we have to come up with and then we must use it. Behandlingsassistenterna stands in the first leg against young people. It is easy to kick a parent in the us. Or ”we are too soft, we are meek, we must be tougher”. It sets jättehöga demands on the superintendent. We will continue to talk, we don’t go on with something else.
On the Tysslinge reported relatively few incidents of there being relatively few incidents – it is Marie jönsson’s clear view. The she also gets support of two administrative assistants, a deputy principal of the school which are inside of the area and of a social pedagogue who works with the training staff in the internal program ”No power, no lose.”
” We will be a cross-section of society in here. We can’t just have ”the 28 year-old from the town of”, even if they are priceless in themselves. We need to have some women, we need to have a mix. Different nationalities, different age. How will we know if a youth has a shitty view of women if we do not have any women?
Socialpedagogen Neshmil Ismail talks about how Tysslinge is the first institution to only educating in the new version of the No power, no lose. It is a program that is about lågaffektivt treatment, developed within the Sis.
” It’s all about educating staff in how we handle conflicts. It has previously been so that the staff may have triggered the situation and so it leads to a separation of the youth. You must learn to know yourself in a violent situation. It is someone and screaming and calling you things, it is very important that you do not take it personally or that it will be prestige in it. Grip is the last, last, last resort, says Neshmil Ismail.
with a nod to the two trygghetsjourer who also hath made us company in the conference room. When the bosses go home for the day takes the doctor on call over and go between departments to keep tabs on the mood and needs.
” I think that the work environment is good. If you have a relationship with a youth, it is much easier to talk with him before it escalates to violence, ” says one of the trygghetsjourerna, who does not want his / her name in the newspaper.
When DN said to the Sis press secretary Stefan Hell Fröding that we wanted to go to the Tysslinge because they have been getting reports, he pointed out that it could be that they are not reporting everything. But this is neither the Marie Jönsson or her staff in the conference room.
” During the first year, it was so incredibly chaotic so we did not have an eye on the reports. Now we have really. We analyze and learn from all incidents. No matter how much it slams shall we follow our values, ” says Marie Jönsson.
In Tysslinge are working about 200 people. During the last four years, however, it is according to Marie Jönsson 400-500 persons who have ”gone through”.
– some have stopped themselves, others have not worked. Some people think that there must be punishment and consequences, but we don’t work that way. What we have been looking for is people who are confident in themselves. Regardless of the situation you should know that you stand firmly on its feet and that you have a heart for young people. We can provide the training, but we can’t give the staff an internal security system.
