For Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens), sufficient financial resources for relief in the energy crisis have priority. When asked about possible exceptions to the debt brake, Habeck said to journalists on Monday in Lubmin in Western Pomerania: “The bottom line is that I have to say that the money has to be raised.”

You have to support the people in Germany until other measures ensure more supply and thus lower energy prices. “That seems to me to be the logical consequence, and I don’t see how you can argue against it.”

Habeck emphasized that the companies also had to be supported. “The economy, that’s this country.” It will not be possible to guarantee compensation for every loss of profit. “That’s not possible, politics can’t do that.”

He also does not say that every citizen will emerge from this crisis without a loss of prosperity. But that the economic and social substance must be preserved, “I say that very well. That is the first thing for me and the money has to be raised accordingly.”

In connection with relief in the energy crisis, exceptions to the debt brake for financing had been brought up by various parties. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) wants to stick to it.
