president of the UNITED states, Donald Trump, has nominated the 62-year-old financier David Malpass for the post of head of the world bank.
Trumps decision is expected after that for several days buzzing rumors that he would point at the very Malpass.
Malpass is a senior official in the u.s. treasury and are considered to be one of the president’s allies. Under the Trumps election campaign was Malpass one of his economic advisers.
Malpass is skeptical of multilateral institutions and has previously been noted as a critic of precisely the world bank, especially over the institution’s loans of money to China.
the world bank is working to provide aid and loans to the poorest part of the world. Shareholders in the world bank are countries, including Denmark.
Malpass must be approved by the world bank’s board of directors.
the UNITED states has traditionally appointed the supreme head of the world bank and sits on 16 percent of the votes in the board of directors. But it does not mean that there can be opposition.
Europe has traditionally been at the head of The International Monetary fund (IMF), considered to be the world bank’s sister organisation. The IMF is headed in the moment of the French Christine Lagarde.
