Environment The klimaatacties of spijbelende students spread like wildfire all over the world. Friday in at least 98 countries actions announced for a more ambitious climate policy.

From the world’s northernmost town of Longyearbyen to Cape town in South Africa and from Anchorage in Alaska to the Japanese capital Tokyo: around the world, young people on Friday, the school to leave on the street to come for the climate. The action should be the largest yet.

On the website Fridays for the Future, that the actions keeps track of, are all 1.325 actions registered in 98 countries.

Also in our country Friday is another big klimaatmars place: Global Strike For Future, organized by Youth for Climate, the action group of Anuna, The Weaver and Kyra Gantois, autograph collection. On the Facebook page of the event gave such a 7.300 people that they will take part in the demonstration in Brussels. Elsewhere in Belgium, there are actions planned.

Unique

“The situation we see today is unique,” says Linus Steinmetz, spokesman of the Fridays for the Future. “We are the last generation with a realistic chance of the klimaatcatastrofe to avoid. According to the UN klimaatpanel we have less than twelve years to make the necessary changes in motion, but we have the resources.”
