Gymnast Nina Derwael (18) is after her exceptionally 2018 elected Sportswoman of the Year. That became just known on the sports Gala in Brussels. The Limburg wrote at the beginning of november of sporting history by being the first Belgian gymnast world champion. Derwael was elected for meerkampster Nafi Thiam, the winner of last year, and basketbalspeelster Emma Meesseman.
It is for Derwael already the fourth award this fall, after the Flemish Giant (a trophy from the Flemish sportpers), the Flemish Sportjuweel (a prize of the Flemish community) and the National Trophy for Sportverdienste. Her achievements of the year 2018 is also impressive.
Derwael shone at the world championships in Doha, where they historically gold picked up to the bridge with uneven shelves. They wrote as history by Belgium first gold medal ever to deliver a world cup gymnastics. Derwael and was the fourth all round and on the bar. The Limburg won earlier in the year even though European gold on the bridge and silver on the beam.
